Lauren Richards is a senior studying Film and Digital Media with a secondary major in Theater Design and Technology at Baylor University. She is originally from Orange County, California. Lauren has an interest in Production Design for Film and TV and loves getting to design and build sets. She has also worked as an assistant properties supervisor and assistant scenic designer in the theater department. Lauren finds it rewarding to explore new ideas and spaces and loves the collaborative effort it takes to bring them to life.

Three Sisters

Description: I worked as the Assistant Properties Supervisor and as a Props Artisan on Three Sisters at Baylor University. One of the things I made was the piano, constructed out of ply and trim, and then painted with wood grain. A keyboard was then hidden inside to give it the illusion of a real piano.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

I worked as a Props Artisan in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Baylor University. In this show, I worked with the team to construct an Egyptian sarcophagus. The main shape was carved out of foam, and a pool noodle and paper mache made up the head. The sarcophagus was then covered in elastomeric and painted.

Baylor University Production Fall 2023

Whiplash

I worked as the Art Director for a scene recreation of Whiplash. The scene was filmed in a studio and so I worked to construct the illusion of a jazz bar using a foam core flat, duvetine, can lights, and various props. The flat was painted with faux marble to match the original scene. Small quasar lights were placed behind glass bottles to give the illusion of a full bar behind the talent.
