Sonny Mauldin

Sonny is a senior BFA theatre performance major from Lindale, Tx. After finding theatre he discovered that this was the greatest possible way to fulfill his life goal of making people happy. He has been seen leading important new works such as The Thanksgiving Play, where he played Jaxton, and The Grown-ups, as Lukas. Other roles such as Ron in Recent Tragic Events, and Solyony in Three Sisters also mark Sonny’s resume. Sonny has also done work with Michael John LaChiusa, and Bill Rauch in An American Eclipse. In addition to acting and singing, Sonny is also fascinated with the mind of the director. Working on directing scenes of his own at Baylor has helped Sonny find specificity in his own acting. In the New Year Sonny will go to India where he will collaborate with Pulitzer Prize nominee, and Obie Award winner Dael Orlandersmith in a devised piece. After graduation, Sonny plans on moving to the city to continue to pursue his dreams and “make his momma proud” doing work in theatre and film.
