Elise Fuselier

Stage Manager & Choreographer

Elise Fuselier (they/them) is a Stage Manager and Choreographer from Waco, Texas. Elise has greatly enjoyed getting to Stage Manage dark, operatic shows such as Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street alongside dramatic and humorous plays such as Men on Boats. They also have Assistant Choreographed for upbeat and fun musicals such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. In addition to these two cornerstones of their career, Elise also has a passion for Costume Crafts and a hobby of taking theatrical production photos. Elise’s gathered knowledge from these different aspects of theatre has given them a well-rounded understanding of the different aspects of a theatrical process and a greater appreciation of the work of every member of a Production Team and cas. Elise is set to graduate from Baylor University in May 2025 with a BFA in Theatre Design & Technology.

Selected Work

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

I served as the Stage Manager for Baylor Theatre’s fall 2024 production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. This production had a very large scope that led to many challenges to overcome and a stunning final product. A few examples of technical elements of the show that proved to be challenging are Sweeney’s collapsable barber chair that opens a trap door into the bottom floor of the barber shop unit, dulled stage razors that were modified to be able to squirt water or fake blood when squeezed, and controllable smokestacks that pumped haze throughout the show. My responsibilities for this show included communicating with a cast of 26 and a production team of 32, sending daily calls and rehearsal/performance reports, scheduling fittings for the cast, attending meetings with the production team - individually and as a complete group - and taking careful notes in those meetings, tracking the different stage locations of the show’s central rolling unit, and calling the show for the duration of the run.

Baylor University Production Fall 2024

Men On Boats

I was the Stage Manager for Baylor Theatre’s production of Men on Boats in the spring of 2024. This show relied heavily on actor-based movement to adequately convey rowing boats onstage and being caught up in wild river rapids, which ended up leading our team to have conversations on how to keep the actors safe while also being able to accomplish the team’s desired vision. My responsibilities for this show included sending daily calls and rehearsal/performance reports, scheduling fittings for the cast, attending meetings with the production team - individually and as a complete group - and taking careful notes in those meetings, and calling the show for the duration of the run.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

I was an Assistant Choreographer for Baylor Theatre’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the fall of 2023. The music of this show features a collection of different styles of music, which, in turn, led to the choreography team being given the opportunity to create dances of many styles as well. As an Assistant Choreographer, I was tasked with assisting in the creation and teaching of some numbers (ex: “Go, Go, Go Joseph,” “One More Angel In Heaven,” “Potiphar”) and choreographing and teaching other numbers alone (“Joseph’s Coat” and “Pharaoh Story”). Once the dances have been taught, the choreography team worked together to “clean” the numbers - going through each dance and re-teaching sections, emphasizing timing of certain combinations, and solidifying formations. It was challenging at times to teach and clean numbers to a group of 26, but the group was ready to learn and have fun doing it.
