Stage Manager, Sound Designer

Sophia Lang is a college student from Dallas, Texas currently studying to get her BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from Baylor University. She has a concentration in both Stage Management and Audio and is set to graduate in May of 2024. Sophia believes that storytelling is a fundamental part of who we are as people and embraces the opportunity to facilitate organization and communication that allows theatre artists to tell those stories.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

I was the Stage Manager for Baylor Theatre's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the fall of 2023. With a cast of 26 and a show entirely composed of music, this production brought fun, unique challenges with a lot of literal moving parts. My responsibilities included taking detailed notes during production meetings, creating and sending out daily calls and rehearsal reports, checking in each day with department heads to discuss any production changes, and calling the show during performances.

Amélie

I was an Assistant Stage Manager for Baylor Theatre's production of Amélie in the fall of 2022. My responsibilities included taking blocking, creating the run sheet, tracking the show's 200+ props, and managing backstage during the production’s performances. This musical’s many moving pieces gave me an opportunity to use my organization skills to ensure the show could run smoothly throughout the entire production process.

Baylor University Theatre Mainstage Fall 2022

Once

I was the Sound Designer, Audio Mixer, and Production Assistant for Baylor Theatre’s Production of Once in the spring of 2023. Because the cast of this show played all of the music themselves with over 40 instruments, this unique production allowed me the opportunity combine my music knowledge, audio skills, and stage management skills into one production. During rehearsals, I was responsible for blocking and instrument tracking. Once mics were introduced, I was able to switch over from the stage management team to my audio mixing role.
